sustainability
The Wilderness Reserve represents a magical 8,000-acre paradise for wildlife restoration with conservation a central focus. Proudly housing a vast array of species, including 125 birds, 33 mammals, 220 plants, almost 600 moths, 23 butterflies, 20 dragonflies, and 4 amphibians, there’s plenty for you to explore too! These populations are keenly supported by 2,000 nest boxes and wildflower seed sown each year on top of the 1 million trees planted.
The Wilderness Reserve
Stump is situated on 8,000 acres of remarkable parkland where arable pastures have been returned to nature, native woodland has burgeoned with the planting of thousands of trees, and lakes and wetlands have been created across three valleys. This is known as Wilderness Reserve – an exceptionally diverse natural habitat for countless native species of wildlife and grazing sheep and cattle. Here you can lose yourself for a long weekend, or a week.
Kick back, get close to nature and enjoy some of the cleanest air in the country.
Wilderness Reserve is a place for total relaxation. You can explore this part of Suffolk, or choose to roam the estate on the Pashley bicycles stocked in each property (there are wellies you can borrow too); row or paddle board on the lakes; host a tennis tournament; clay pigeon shoot or learn about the natural inhabitants with the resident ranger. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome to come. Breakfast hampers can be provided, and private chefs can be organised, if you’re not tempted off the estate to one of the many fabulous local pubs and restaurants.
